Thanks for dropping by!
No doubt you’d like to know something about the person behind the words on nutritional supplement truths blog.
That would be me. ‘Hi‘ Brett here!
Here’s a picture of me.
My original career was that of a high performance tennis coach. That title means I specialize in working with world-class players and high potential juniors. I hold a ‘Level 3 / Elite Coach’ accreditation from Australia – my home country.
Level 3 is the highest level possible and is basically for coaches working at High Performance Training Centers/Institutes or who work predominantly with high performance players aiming at playing tennis as their career.
Of all the tennis coaches who become accredited only a small percentage move on to hold ‘Level 3’ / ‘High Performance’ accreditation.
I’m proud to tell you that when I did my level 3 course (a grueling 2 years) back in 1994, I was the youngest coach in Australia to ever attain a level 3 qualification (and I topped the class!).
So why am I telling you all of this?
Because it leads into why I created nutritional-supplement-truths.com and this blog.
To reach this level of expertise in tennis requires a deep knowledge of all the sports sciences and this naturally includes NUTRITION.
So this, coupled with my sporting background as a competitive tennis player from age 12 and subsequently as a coach, gave me a passionate interest in health and fitness and consequently nutritional supplements.
I’m an extremely ‘details orientated’ guy by nature and this led me to research in great detail much of the science behind supplements. I wanted to make sure I was doing ALL I could to maintain my strong health and slow my aging process and the degeneration of my DNA and organs.
My goal is to die at a ripe old age (certainly over 100) and without ANY disease or , so-called, ‘old-age western ailments’!
This meant finding the ABSOLUTE BEST nutritional health supplements out there, not only in terms of the key nutrients it contained and that it was manufactured by experienced professionals (ie. not marketers – as is so often the case) but also for the value for money it gave me.
And then life took an unexpected twist when up popped the opportunity for a management position with a premium nutritional supplement manufacturer, so I thought “Absolutely” (coaching moved to the evenings and weekends).
The industry secrets soon came spilling out!
I learned more in the first year of that job than with all my previous research put together!
That’s because manufacturers and supplement companies have gone to great lengths over the years to hide critical details (aka ‘secrets’) which would alert the public to general weaknesses in the majority of supplements.
Then to bury these details even deeper (the ‘filing drawer‘ syndrome) they create deviously clever marketing presentations with misleading, and sometimes downright lies, to lure consumers into believing certain things about supplements.
Basically the manufacturers make supplement consumers believe what they want them to believe!
The art of marketing!
When consumers hear these same crafty messages often enough they start to believe them.
And so my website nutritional-supplement-truths was born!
From time to time I get letters from readers of my websites questioning my qualifications and ability to help people with their health issues.
In my response I point out that while I don’t have any specialized degrees such Pharmacology, Organic Chemistry, Microbiology and the like, I do have:
- Appropriate experience from working in the supplement industry
- Access to some of the most qualified specialists in that industry
- Access to more resources than most people
I also mention that I’m not ‘conditioned’ to any specific preconceived ideas about health.
It is common for health ‘professionals’ to simply copy the mainstream or ‘accepted’ views about health and disease prevention despite that science has in many cases proved these ideas to be NOT TRUE. They continue to be promoted however usually because of financial influences and sometimes because of ignorance or laziness in researching the facts.
How’s YOUR Health?
Mine is FANTASTIC – and I hope yours is as well.
I have no conditions or ailments whatsoever and I haven’t been sick once in the past 10 years – not even a cold.
My weight lingers between is 81-83 kilos which is within one to three kilos of my ideal weight at 80kg (my height is 183 cm).
Although I’m only 45, I believe my strong health gives me a biological age in my early 30’s. In fact I’m much healthier and far fitter than most men in their 30’s that I know.
In my most recent cholesterol test my HDL Cholesterol (the good (component of) cholesterol) was 59 mg/dl. The normal range is 35 – 55. The higher the score the better for this element of cholesterol. This great score is due to the large quantities of raw vegetables and veggie juices I take in daily. My LDL Cholesterol (the potentially dangerous one if the LDL molecules are BIG) was at the low end of the normal range.
In other words I practice what I preach!
Overall I am very satisfied that I am aging naturally. By that I mean I’m aging as nature intended.
One of the greatest health problems society faces today is that an overwhelming majority of people are aging too quickly. This is leading to major degenerative diseases occurring at earlier and earlier ages and people spending the last chapter of their lives dependent on pharmaceutical drugs.
The GREATEST health challenge facing people today is to ‘normalize’ their aging process.
The Aim Of This Blog
To share what I have discovered about being healthy and using supplementation to support this aim.
And in doing this I get something great in return.
I know that my interaction through this blog with other health-conscious people will help to increase my knowledge and that in turn benefits my health and that of my family.
It also allows me to increase my ability to help people more and so the cycle continues.
Perhaps I can help you.
Great health ……… Live Well
