In Part 1 of this anti aging secrets and nutritional supplements series I looked at the meaning of anti aging in respect of nutritional supplements. This, I stated, was the ability of nutritional health/vitamin supplements to tackle the number 1 most prevalent health concern of the 21 st century – PREMATURE AGING.
Premature aging is responsible for the host of degenerative diseases and illness’ which are inflicting an ever-increasing percentage of the population at younger and younger ages! The stats are climbing year in year out and I’m sure you’re all too aware of this health-devastating trend.

Todays post about anti aging secrets with respect to nutritional health supplements is a very interesting one which I’m sure you’ll enjoy reading. You’re going to discover a number of ‘eye opening’ facts which most of you won’t have come across before.
These are facts which supplement manufacturers and companies definitely don’t want you to know because they reveal major weaknesses and limitations in their products when it comes to anti aging claims.
I’ve decided to split this topic up because it’s quite a complex one. To keep it ‘readable’ and not bombard you with too much technical detail in any one post I’ve divided it into 4 parts which will appear over the next 2 weeks.

Last week I posted an entry about the negative [tag-tec]supplement[/tag-tec] report released last month in the Harvard Men’s Health Watch newsletter.
In that post I made mention of the fact that over the years there has been research and studies released which have “been ’sponsored’ by those with ‘anti-supplement vested interests’, such as Big Pharma, where the final conclusion has been pre-determined before the study even begins!”
So today I thought I would tell you about another NASTY behavior of pharmaceutical drug companies – HIDING NEGATIVE DRUG STUDIES!

I’m staying on the ‘behavior of drug companies’ theme today. So, here’s another story that will probably make you shake your head in disgust.
I’m sure you’ve already heard the stories!
Drug companies authorizing and training their sales reps to ‘take care’ of doctors and nurture the relationship so that in return the doctors will gratefully prescribe the companies drugs to their patients.

A few days ago I was scanning down a ‘Readers Comments’ thread on a popular health website when one reader’s response caught my eye.
This person made 3 comments in his post, all of which I have seen quite regularly on health sites around the web and ALL 3 represent common misconceptions with regard to nutritional supplements!
These particular misconceptions are proof of the popular saying “If you throw enough mud for long enough some of it will stick!”
And the Internet only serves to exacerbate this problem!

Your nutritional vitamin supplement contains Folic acid, right?
Well it very well may cause you cancer - according to a recently released article!
That’s exactly what Harvard Medical School researchers have said in the March 2008 edition of their Harvard Men’s Health Watch newsletter.
They also cited studies to say that other multivitamin ingredients, namely [tag-tec]antioxidants[/tag-tec], [tag-tec]vitamins B6[/tag-tec], B12 and [tag-ice]Folic acid[/tag-ice] don’t prevent disease (cancer and heart disease).

Question: From Tricia
“I would like to know if you have evaluated Dr Ben Kim’s Greens powder”.
Thank you
Response from Brett:
Hi again Tricia
I’ve looked through Dr Ben Kim’s website and I’m sorry to say it’s just another example of a ‘doctor’ taking advantage of consumers lack of knowledge about supplement quality and nutrition.

Sad news.
My Aunt Bette in Australia recently suffered a serious stroke and because of this I’ve decided to discuss the subject of stroke in todays entry.
[tag-tec]Heart disease[/tag-tec]/strokes are the biggest cause of death and disability in the western world yet not many people seem to be aware of how to recognize the (often subtle) symptoms of [tag-ice]stroke[/tag-ice] and the importance of quick follow-up action.
There seems to be a widely held view that when someone has a stroke it will be highly obvious and the sufferer will experience significant pain and suffering. This is not the case.
I suspect that much of the population confuses a stroke with a serious heart attack.

In my last entry I talked about the term ‘natural’ in relation to nutritional supplements and then made some comments on a whole food multivitamin supplement which a reader asked me about.
This particular supplement was marketed in a very clever way to stress the importance of taking only a natural supplement with natural “whole food” ingredients.
If you read my comments you will see that product is nowhere near as good as it claims to be and because of the huge amount of vitamin C it contains it offers consumers very poor value for money. And some of the “whole food sourced” ingredients it promotes actually do not occur naturally so there’s a nice example of bending the truth to say the least.
Today I thought I would stay with this ‘whole food’ theme.

Any return visitors to nutritional-supplement-truths.com will see that there is a large scale site reconstruction going on.
Everything is being completely revamped with a new format, design, color scheme, interactive pages, new content and some revision of existing content. It’s all being jazzed up!
I’m doing ALL of this myself and since my HTML and CSS knowledge is somewhat limited it’s taking far longer than expected to get all those changes displaying in your browser exactly the way I want.
Anyway for those that saw the old site I’m sure you’ll agree that the new design is far better and easier to move through.
The reason I’m mentioning this is to let you know that because of all this additional work my blog will only be updated 1 to 2 times a week for the coming months (or until it’s all finished).
So I hope you will bear with me and continue to read the juicy supplement and [tag-ice]health[/tag-ice] truths that I have in store for you.
Today’s entry explains the word “natural” as applied to [tag-ice]nutritional supplements[/tag-ice]
